Narrowing over 200 books down to ten is a tough task. Over the past 3 years I have read a total of 200 books and counting. These are the top ten in regards to the books that I think every person on this planet should read at least once. They cover the essentials and general principles that must be applied to one’s life to succeed. I would recommend taking your time reading each of these books… write in it, highlight, and take notes all over the book. 

1. The Art of War

Life is a war… a business war, economic war, political war, and social war. Like in war, there are strategies, skills, and knowledge in life that give the best chance of a victory. This ancient book gives the most effect strategy of war that has been passed down by centuries. The entire philosophy of this book can be applied to every area of your life.

2. Rich Dad, Poor Dad

No matter what stage you are at in life finances matter. Whether your in college, getting married, or have a family; this book is a MUST read. It will show the differences between a person that creates wealth and a person that remains broke forever. It teaches basic finance principles such as the difference between an asset and liability and much more.

3. How to Win Friends and Influence People

Network is your net worth? Whether you believe that are not… it is undeniable that having friends and the ability to influence people is a skill that pays and creates success. It is also a key to happiness in life. There are tons of studies that show having friends prolongs life and loneliness is detrimental to our health. Read it… author has an awesome name too!

4. The Wisdom of Andrew Carnegie as Told By Napoleon Hill

5. Make Your Bed

This book is simple and straight to the point… create little habits that make big impact on your life. The little details in life are what make or break you. I love the stories Admiral McRaven uses in this book to construe his points. This is a short read and well worth the time investment!

6. The Power of Habit

Cue, Routine, Reward. This is the book and this is your life. We, as humans, are essentially made up of our habits. A successful person has mainly good habits and unsuccessful people have mainly poor habits. The good news is all of your current habits are able to be changed, or overwritten. This book is a must read if you want to improve the quality of your life.

7. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck

First off, a message to Mark Manson… I truly wish you would have chose a different title. I understand it is a marketing message that is edgy and memorable. However, I think the people that are appalled at this title are the people that need this book. I am one of these people… so do not let this amazing book steer you away only because of the title. Note: this book does have some pretty bad language.

8.  Tools of Titans

This books covers three areas: “healthy, wealthy, wise.” There are so many great nuggets in this book as it is a collection of interviews of billionaires, icons, and world-class performers. The best of the best are in this book and cover about every aspect of life in this book. A must read for anyone.

9.  The Energy Bus

Positive energy is contagious. This book tells a simple story about how to see the glass half full instead of half empty. It is a very short read but a great reminder that people like being around others that are positive. Stop your complaining and excuses. Create a magnetic personality. Influence others to be better. These are some of the great lessons in this book!

10. The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People

The title is self explanatory. This book is simple and straightforward. It gives 7 things that every person should do in order to be effective and ultimately a successful person. This book is a classic and a must read by everyone.
